Ability to wipe the ledger clean each year.
Would-be nice to be able to easily clear the ledger for the year for our tax purposes. And start with a fresh on each year zeroed out.

I personally would prefer to not wipe it all out but as it sits if I don't it continues its summery calculations for income and expense so the dashboard shows total over life of account not just a specific time period or year. After the year is done I already copy all data from Leger into an excel sheet and save it as archive so just looking for a way to maybe archive the whole year like close it out but still be able to search back over a specified time from an archive would be more what I'm looking for. If you think about this as a quick books kinda thing as a business with over 200 rabbits I just want to see current data for the year not for the life of my account like a data range to show on the dashboard. -

JessicaThis feature is one reason I pay for Everbreed but the ledger is seriously lacking as it makes it very difficult to do my taxes with the income every year if I cannot zero it out at the end of the year. Everbreed is more for pet breeders then actual ones and will be trying Evans ledger for possible change to it for next year going forward due to all the issues I have with this ledger and no attention to actually updating it or doing any improvements to that system in over 2 years.

Everbreed Admin AdminFrom a business perspective, my thought is that you wouldn't want to erase any historical data, as you may need it later in case of an audit or to simply have a record to measure growth, etc. In order to help with taxes, instead of wiping the ledger, how about if instead we create a Profit & Loss statement for you. You could download or print this out, and it would show you exactly how much you earned and spent each year, organized by category. Or is there another reason we should consider wiping the ledger?

Everbreed Admin AdminJessica, thank you for sharing that. I agree, from an accounting, deleting financial records is rarely a good idea. What may solve this problem better is a profit and loss statement that shows income and expenses on a monthly or yearly basis. Or maybe in a chart like requested here: https://everbreed.featureupvote.com/suggestions/318933/create-income-and-expenses-bar-chart-comparing-month-to-month
Currently, you filter the transaction list by date range and download all the transactions for a year. But it doesn't change the Income & Expense totals at the top. Would it help if we adjusted that, so the total income/expenses at the top was alter filtered by the search results? -

Samantha SpottsI agree this is a huge issue. A profit and loss statement is good but I also really don't care to ever look back at previous years once taxes are done unless I get audited. It's completely useless to me to have the last 6+ years or whatever it is of ledger data summarized at the top of the page or on my default report page. Ideally, the ledger page would default to only show the current year info, and old years could be archived to access if needed but not included as part of the report page unless specifically filtered to allow old data. How was this brought up in 2023 and now almost 2 years later I still don't even have a way to print just this year? Yes you can "filter" your current display but if I try to export it into excel for our taxes it exports everything, not the filtered selection. I also don't want to have to filter every time I access the page to see the current year only. Please fix this!
