ability to change rabbit status date

if I mark a rabbit died, archived, sold etc the system automatically populates the date in the status field. There needs to be an option to select the date the change occured otherwise records tend to be off, especially since we currently have to change the status to active to edit the rabbit at all and then change the status back.
